These Actors and Actresses Despised Their Shows, Movies

Acting is a career that many people dream of having. You see these idols on the TV screen and big screen and you want to be them so bad. It just seems like the perfect life, at least on the outside. Since we do not know these actors and actresses personally, we have no idea how much they enjoying acting, they might have even fallen into their job and despise their work.

Here are the actors and actresses who hated the shows and movies they played in.

Chace Crawford - Gossip Girl

Chace Crawford's career was launched thanks to his role as Nate Archibald in Gossip Girl — but he didn't like the show as much of many co-stars on the hit series.

When the series finale was coming up he said, “I’m gonna look for my dignity. My dignity is somewhere on set." Most recently, he's been in The Boys, an Amazon Prime Video original series based on the comic book series of the same name.

Shailene Woodley is an environmental advocate and her time on Secret Life of the American Teenager started to detract her from her moral obligations. Which only caused her to like the show she was acting on less and less. She used the phrase "set off her moral alarm bells" when describing what the show did.

“Towards the end, morally, the things that we were preaching on that show weren’t really aligned with my own integrity,” she said. “So that was a bit hard to show up to work every day knowing that we were going to project all of these themes."

One of America's favorite father figures was Robert Reed. He played the father in The Brady Bunch and although he seemed happy-go-lucky in the series, that was for sure not the case when the cameras were off. He would talk about his dislike of the show in public and even act difficult on set. Reed would write sarcastic memos to the producer of the show and change dialogue as well.

It is reported that he only stayed on the show because he was close to the cast. When he reviewed the show talking about his feelings he said, “it was just as inconsequential as can be” and scoffed at the juvenile and ridiculous plot lines. Ouch!

The reason for Mandy Patinkin's disgust for the show he was on, Criminal Minds, stems from ethical reasons. If you watched the show, you know how brutal it can be in regards to killings and other cases that involve demoralizing women. Mandy was not up for it and it only took two seasons.

"I thought it was something very different," said Patinkin, who left after two seasons in 2007. "I never thought they were going to kill and harm all these women every night, every day, week after week, year after year." He said it was destructive to his soul.

Another one who was against Gossip Girl is Blake Lively (we are not done with the Gossip Girl haters). You'd think there must something about the water on set to have these many cast members not fond of the show. But no, they all had their own reasons for not liking it.

“The thing about the show was that some of the writing on it was terrible,” he wrote for New York magazine. “It just ended up being some weird slapstick humor that only a 10-year-old would laugh at.” Ironic that he wrote this and complained about the writing. Maybe that was a double diss to Disney.
