Typically Aloe Vera is thought of as a healing plant, the liquid being used most often for burns or abrasions to the skin. However these are not the only benefits of the Aloe Vera plant. The pulp from the Aloe Vera plant is used in juices and in recipes to provide the same type of healing inside the human body. This heals the body internally, much the same way you have seen it work on your skin.
Aloe Vera is loaded with vitamins and includes all of the essential vitamins humans need on a daily basis except Vitamin D. Aloe Vera is also anti-inflammatory and is one of the reasons it is used so often in beauty care products. It is used externally to aid in healing; however the juice and pulp of the Aloe Vera plant can be ingested internally to provide even more health benefits. The Aloe Vera Plant also grows all 12 months of the year. This makes the plant a more accessible and appealing product for even amateur gardeners.
Aloe Vera juice aids with the digestive system. This is where many diseases and conditions originate. Many children with Autism and other neurological disorders have improper functioning GI tracts. Aloe Vera has anti-inflammatory properties, and it helps heal the digestive tract and cleanse the colon. It also helps the circulatory system because it enables cell growth and the dilation of capillaries. For a person to receive the benefits of Aloe Vera juice they need to consume about four ounces a day to detoxify the body.
The British Journal of General Practice published the findings of ten studies involving the benefits of Aloe. They discovered Aloe was helpful in lowering glucose in diabetic patients and with such promising results more research is being conducted for clinical effectiveness.
Aloe Vera gel is used to make juice once the yellow aloin is removed, which is very bitter. Aloe is also used in yogurt, ice cream, cream cheese, spring water, tea, desserts and is sold in health food stores such as Whole Foods, Wegmans, GNC and Trader Joes.
“We already see tendencies of Aloe Vera becoming a mainstream product. We are already delivering product to some beverage companies that blend our Aloe Vera with a soft drink type of drink,” States Australian Aloe Marketing Limited CEO Mats Johnson.
Aloe Vera juice has been used for detoxification as well as its healing abilities. No one can officially state that it will be a cure, in cases of neurological disorders such as autism or anxiety. But it has been reported as a healing agent, which will decrease symptoms and improve overall health. Aloe Vera juice is bitter and should be mixed into a smoothie or with another juice to be more palatable for a child. Biomedical autism intervention doctor, Dr. Kurt Woeller has stated that the ingestion of Aloe Vera for children should be limited to 2 ounces a day, and like any other dietary change, be monitored closely. Dr. Woeller has been in this field since 1998 and has written several books on the importance of nutrition to an autism treatment.
