Seems like everything is political these days, right? When it comes to impassioned opinions and sometimes confrontational arguments, politics in the U.S. are a top source of disagreement. Our elected officials are often at each other’s throats, and oftentimes their followers and superfans follow suit. But some folks (on both sides) take things a little too far and end up potentially damaging the reputations of the politicians they support.
Whether through violence, controversial remarks or public outbursts, these individuals surely caused some major headaches for politicians. You won’t believe some of these humiliations!
Richard A. Snowden, Trump SuperFan And Drug Dealer
Snowden was one of Trump’s biggest supporters during his campaign. He went to 27 different rallies in 15 states and drove thousands of miles in support of his candidate. Snowden is a former strip club owner who found his business in hot water for drug trafficking charges. Definitely not a good look for Mr. Trump.
Jedidiah Brown Rushes Trump’s Stage
While he is not a big-time Hillary supporter, this man made all democrats look bad on national TV. The 29-year-old pastor grabbed the mic during a Trump rally after getting into a fight with a Trump supporter on stage. While many don’t agree with Trump, there are better ways of opposing him than fighting people and storming the stage.
Sean Hannity Gets Facts Right … Sometimes
Hannity is a conservative political commentator for Fox News who has shown his support for Trump many times. He has had numerous spats with democrats and even other republicans defending Trump about everything and has been caught being ignorant of the facts on many occasions. This is not the kind of person that is going to convince the masses to show support for Trump.
Jeremiah Wright’s Controversial Teachings
Wright was the pastor at the church that Barack Obama used to attend. However, when Obama ran for president in 2008, some negative things began to leak about Wright. His preaching were scrutinized as anti-American and often antisemitic. Instead of just letting it fester, Obama addressed these issues publicly and distanced himself from his old pastor.
Alex Jones — The Conspiracy Theorist No One Wants On Their Team
Jones is a huge Trump supporter and also a leading conspiracy theorist. He regularly claims that the U.S. Government was responsible for the Oklahoma City Bombings, the September 11th attacks and more. Not exactly the kind of guy you want in your corner as the president. The next man was once the most hated man in the country…
Martin Shkreli, Pharmabro Everyone Hates
Last year, Shkreli made headlines when his pharmaceutical company raised the price of an anti-parasitic drug from $13.50 per pill to a whopping $750. This obviously led him to be almost universally hated. It was revealed that he had donated some money to the campaign of Bernie Sanders, which left a poor taste in the mouth of the candidate’s supporters.
Bill Ayers, Former Terrorist, Stumps For Obama
Bill Ayers is a teacher, but is more well known for his controversial decades-old associations. He was involved with an organization called the Weather Underground, which he founded. It was a radical communist group that was linked to several domestic terrorist attacks. When it was announced that he was a personal contact of Barack Obama ahead of the 2008 election, the presidential hopeful had to distance himself from Ayers.
Frank Marshall Davis, Obama’s “Communist Mentor”
Davis died decades ago, but his link to President Obama is still a source of controversy. Davis was a journalist and supporter of communism. While growing up, Barack Obama met Davis a few times and even mentioned him in a book. While this could be nothing, many people believe that Davis was Obama’s “communist mentor.”
Paul Y. Song, Sanders Supporter
Song is a physician and activist. He was also a big supporter of Bernie Sanders in his bid to become the president. In a speech, Song uttered the phrase “corporate Democratic whores,” which obviously didn’t sit too well with many democrats. Sanders actually addressed this and apologized for Song’s word choice. The next entry takes a closer look at Sanders’ supporters.
Bernie Bros Doing More Damage Than Good
“Bernie Bros” are largely classified as supporters of Bernie Sanders who take to Twitter and other networks in blind support of the candidate while attacking everyone else who disagrees. Every politician and public figure has their diehards, but these “Bernie Bros” definitely embarrassed Sanders and even led him to call their behavior “disgusting,” when referring to sexist remarks they had made online.
Alex Jones, Again
That’s right, he’s back. Jones has been involved in so many controversial things in politics that he deserved another spot. He attacked Hillary Clinton by name in a speech and even claimed that she and current President Obama are literal demons. Again, someone who thinks and speaks like this isn’t someone most people want to be showing support for them.
Donna Brazile Cheats The System
Brazile is a democratic political analyst and a big time supporter of Hillary Clinton. She made headlines recently when WikiLeaks revealed she had sent an email to the Clinton camp providing an upcoming debate question, which is not allowed. This didn’t look good for Clinton, who already had her fair share of controversy during the election.
Haim Saban, The Power Rangers Guy
Saban is the founder of the entertainment company that brought you The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. He is worth billions of dollars and is one of the biggest donors to Hillary Clinton. Some people have problems with this as he is a “one issue guy” and that issue is Pro-Israeli efforts.
Seddique Mateen, Pulse Nightclub Shooter’s Dad
Mateen is known by most people as the father of the Pulse nightclub shooter. While he obviously had no part in the shooting, there are still those who relate him to the awful work of his son. Many people had issues with the fact that Mateen was seen at a Clinton rally, and said that he was invited. This next person’s front yard got her in some hot water.
Kimberly Loyd, Trump Superfan
Loyd is the owner of the famous “Trump house” in Texas. She had numerous Trump signs in her yard and on her house, and has been in numerous back-and-forth conflicts with people who tore them down time and time again. While this may not have been a huge embarrassment to Trump, it is pretty hilarious that someone was willing to go to these lengths to support their candidate, even after the signs were pulled down numerous times.
Milo Yiannopoulos, The Most Controversial Conservative ever
Milo might just be one of the most controversial figures on the planet. He is a British reporter and editor who holds sometimes bombastic conservative views. He has made numerous speeches and rants that focus on anti-Muslim, racist and alt-right topics. He was even banned for life from Twitter for hate speech. He is a very visible and vocal Trump supporter.
Tony Pettway, Trump Bouncer
Pettway is a Trump supporter who made national headlines after a rally in Tuscon. After a protester was being removed from the rally, Pettway sucker punched him and then kicked him while he was on the ground. This kind of violence was cited by critics of the Trump campaign as exemplifying his views and rhetoric.
Ann Coulter, Conservative Firebrand
Coulter is a political analyst who has herself claimed that she likes to “stir the pot” a lot. She gets a ton of criticism for her beliefs and blind support of Donald Trump and the right. She has also made several racist comments and tweets towards immigrants and minorities. Her association with Trump has been a point of contention for his critics.
Mark Foley Sent Explicit Texts To Minors, Supports Trump
Foley is a former member of the House of Representatives, but resigned due to a sex scandal in which he sent explicit texts and messages to young boys. After being out of the public eye for years, he resurfaced and offered his support to Donald Trump, and was even seen sitting right behind him at an event.
Charles Rocha Used Campaign Funds For Personal Pleasures
Normally, politicians are fairly good at choosing their advisers. However, Bernie Sanders slipped up in regards to Charles Rocha. Back in 2013, Rocha was convicted of embezzlement after he stole money from the United Steelworkers union back in 2008 and 2009. He used the money for a personal trip, which is a big no-no.
