$13 Million Around Her Neck
Ridiculously rich Indian politician G Janardhana Reddy’s daughter, Brahmani, had a ridiculously expensive wedding to Rajeev Reddy, a business scion.
The Indian public cried out in anger as the lavish wedding cost $74 million, while Indians are struggling with poverty. Brahmani wore $13 million of jewelry; her sari cost $2.5 million. The wedding opened and closed with various elaborately staged shows, such as Brazilian dancers. Sets built to imitate ancient Hindu buildings took months to create in preparation for the big day, and more than 50,000 guests attended the wedding.
