Neville Longbottom, a.k.a. Matthew Lewis is fangirling hard over the Netflix series Stranger Things and now permanently shows his love for it to the rest of the world. The actor has recently been seen with Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown showing off his new tattoo, the number eleven.
Lewis showed off his forearm tattoo, which is the Roman numeral for eleven, while Millie Bobby Brown pointed to his arm with an aghast expression on her face in a photo that Lewis shared on Instagram. The caption of Lewis’s photo reads, “A lot of people ask what my tattoo means. Now you know.” The two took the photo while at a convention, and even though we don’t believe his tattoo is for “Stranger Things,” their adorable picture has become quite the crowd pleaser.
It seems that Matthew Lewis isn’t the only person to jump on the “Stranger Things” bandwagon. The show has created a spike in Netflix subscriptions and originally projected that “Stranger Things” would bring in around 2 million more subscriptions. The show has recently been said to bring in more than 3.2 million new subscriptions around the world and over 360,000 new viewers in the United States alone.
“Stranger Things” is also one of the products of Netflix’s constant new content and creation of new programming. The online subscription service states that new and original content is less expensive to create and produce rather than licensing content from major channels and studios. Netflix is said to increase total hours of original content to around 1,000 hours in 2017, thanks in particular to an investment of $6 billion dollars to fund original content.
The biggest mystery behind the new season has actually been controversial. Twitter has recently gone crazy over speculation that the character Will, played by Noah Schnapp is a member of the LGBTQ community. The character’s sexual orientation has sparked fan theories stating that the Duffers, who are the creators of the show, might reveal Will’s boyfriend or love interest.
Noah Schnapp responded on Instagram to set the record straight, and really prove what matters when it comes to his character’s story.
The actor stated, “. . .For me, Will being gay or not is besides the point. Stranger Things is a show about a bunch of kids who are outsiders and find each other because they have been bullied in some way or are different. Does being sensitive, or a loner, or a teenager who likes photography, or a girl with red hair and big glasses, make you gay? I’m only 12 but I do know we all relate to being different…”
Other fan theories for the second season state that Millie Bobby Brown’s character Eleven won’t even appear or that she is going to appear in the last couple of episodes. We can only wait and see what Netflix has in store for the characters. Until then, we’ll settle for a Neville Longbottom and Eleven cross-over fan fiction!
