The complicated history of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith's relationship just had another intricacy added to it. What more could get thrown into this complicated, but loving companionship between two of Hollywood's best? Before we answer that, let's rewind and refresh your memory.

Before getting together with Will, Jada used to date hardcore rapper Tupac before he passed away. Recently, she revealed that she still thinks about him every day. Will also left his ex-wife whom he had his first child with for Jada. In a new interview with People, Jada dropped another bombshell.

"I had never seen a happy marriage," she told People, saying she "adored" her partner, but did not want to marry.

"I never wanted to get married," says Jada. It was her mother who urged her to tie the knot. "But my mother was like, 'You have to get married' – she's so old school – and Will wanted a family. So I said, 'All right, maybe it's something I should do." Thankfully Will wanted to have a family, where would the world be without Jaden and Willow Smith. More importantly, where would we be without all of the exciting developments that come out about this bunch of stars?

Now, they've been together for more than two decades and consider what they have a "life partnership" rather than placing a label on it. "I don't own him. He doesn't own me. He has to be his own person first, and vice versa … Love is freedom," Pinkett Smith told People.
