Naomi Watts and Liev Schrieber met in 2005 at the Annual Met Gala. Schreiber has said that when he first saw Watts, “she was like a ray of light.” He also told Esquire, “I decided I was going to make a family with this person. For better or for worse, I stepped into a partnership with somebody. We were gonna bring kids into this world and try to love and respect each other.”

Watts and Schrieber had their first child in 2007 and their second in 2008. In 2016, they announced their separation after living as a couple for 11 years.
