Candace Cameron Bure: Corporal Punishment

Candace Cameron Bure, a
New York Times bestselling author and former star ofFull House, is known for being extremely devoted to her Christian faith. In a long-deleted blog post she opened up about how she chooses to parent, and well, you be the judge. She apparently follows a book called To Train Up a Child by Michael and Debi Pearl. The Pearls are known for using corporal punishment to get kids to exhibit total obedience.

At least three children have allegedly died from the methods advocated by the Pearls. It’s hard to believe our beloved D.J. Tanner grew up to use such extreme methods of punishment on her children!

Some of the horrifying methods the Pearls advocate include using plastic plumbing tubing to beat children and then wearing said plastic around the parents’ necks as a constant reminder to obey. The Pearls recommend hosing off children who have normal potty training accidents.

Their violent methods also include swatting babies as young as six months old with instruments such as “a 12-inch willowy branch,” thinner plastic tubing, or a wooden spoon if they try to crawl off a blanket on the floor. Fans of Candace Cameron Bure were horrified that she was using methods commonly considered child abuse to discipline her children.
