Katharine Hepburn owned one of the most famous Los Angeles mansions in Hollywood history. The icon lived in this ranch-style hacienda that was first built in 1927. Hidden beneath oak trees in Coldwater Canyon, the house has a subtle combination of rustic and Western-style design.

Katharine’s Haunted Hacienda

Katharine had experienced apparent ghost sightings in the hacienda and believed the small mansion to be haunted. Hepburn reported seeing furniture shaking, ghosts hovering above beds, and jiggling latches on her bedroom doors. The actress asked a friend to scare the ghost away with a dog but failed to do so leaving Katharine no choice but to vacate the property.
