Princess Zara is a British equestrian who attended the University of Exeter. Her equestrian skills became so good that she competed and won the silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics for event riding. Being the second oldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth, Zara is 16th in line in succession to the throne. She is also married to ex-England rugby player, Mike Tindall.

Becoming an accomplished equestrian is definitely a family tradition. Both of Zara’s parents were successful equestrians. In 2003, she secured a sponsorship with Cantor Index to help cover the costs of her equestrian career. Also in 2003, she was runner-up at the four-star event Burghley Horse Trials. Talk about a princess with goals!

Charlene of Monaco

Charlene of Monaco is another athlete and independent woman. She was a former Olympic swimmer before marrying her husband, Prince Albert the 2nd, in 2011. But while they are married now, their wedding day didn’t really go as planned – it actually almost didn’t happen at all! But this fact was kept secret until after the ceremony.

Following the wedding, it was discovered that Charlene had attempted to call off the wedding. She was going to be a runaway bride! She wanted to flee on three separate occasions prior to the ceremony but decided to stay and marry Prince Albert. The couple is still married and they appear to be happy. She currently serves as a Special Olympics Ambassador and the couple has two children.
