Quibilah Shabazz and her mother Betty believed that Louis Farrakhan was responsible for the assassination of her father. She began obsessing over Farrakhan which culminated in plotting to have him killed. She ended up taking a plea deal. Years later, Qubilah Shabazz’s son Malcolm, named after her father, started a fire in his grandmother Betty Shabazz’s apartment.

The fire left Betty with burns over her entire body which she later died from. A juvenile at the time, young Malcolm ended up pleading guilty to arson and manslaughter and was sentenced 18 months in juvenile hall for killing his grandmother.
