Jackie Chan is one of the most famous and celebrated martial artists of the silver screen. His son, Jaycee, has followed in his father’s footsteps and was pursuing a career in the entertainment world as a musician. Unfortunately, the young man was arrested in 2014 for having more than three ounces of marijuana.

While such a crime in the United States would likely result in a plea deal or probation, the charge is much worse in China where the crime occurred. Jaycee was arrested in Beijing where possession of drugs can lead to life imprisonment or even the death penalty.

Jackie Chan’s Son Clashes with Anti-Drug Reputation

To make matters even worse, Jackie Chan had been named China’s anti-drug goodwill ambassador since 2009. Ouch! That one must have stung for Jackie. Not only was his son arrested for drug possession, but the arrest negatively impacted his father’s public image. China’s drug offense charges and punishments may be a bit over the top, but Jaycee should have known to follow the law.

Fortunately, Jaycee Chan did not suffer any harsh penalties for his youthful indiscretion. Jaycee was ultimately released from police custody and made public apologies to his parents for getting mixed up with drugs. It could have been a lot worse; let’s hope he learned his lesson!
