Everyone knows what the Jodie Foster, Natalie Portman, and the Olsen twins looked like as kids. They were all child actors and they grew up in the public eye.
But there are some other celebrities out there whose early lives are largely a mystery to us.
Here are a few super rare pictures of some celebrities before they became famous.
1. Avril Lavigne
Born Avril Ramona Lavigne (in Canada, September 27, 1984). Lavigne is known for her pop/punk style, tattoos and outlandish hairdos. But she hasn’t always been so fashionable!
2. Brad Pitt
Now one of the world’s biggest heartthrob actors, Pitt hasn’t always been such a hunk. Here he is as a chubby little boy. Looks a lot like his daughter Shiloh, don’t you think?!
3. Charlize Theron
Maybe there’s some truth to the Ugly Duckling story! Charlize, born in South Africa in 1975, is now a stunning Academy Award-winning actress but was quite a Plain Jane in high school. There’s hope for us all!
4. Sean Combs
Whether you know him as Sean, Diddy, Puff Daddy, or any of his other name variations, the guy used to look a lot less smooth. This yearbook photo is proof.
5. Julia Roberts
The Pretty Woman star may be a few years older now, but that trademark smile has always been there. What a cutie the Smyrna, GA native was!
6. Jude Law
Although he was born David Jude Heyworth Law (in 1972), one thing hasn’t changed about this handsome screen star: his looks! Cute kid, handsome man.
The one-named musical legend has kept her famous looks since she was a child growing up in Bay City, Michigan. There’s no mistaking those eyebrows! Her daughter Lourdes inherited those same brows and is now a spitting image of her famous mom.
8. George Clooney
He wasn’t always the suave gentleman he is today! Now married to lawyer/human rights activist Amal Alamuddin Clooney, George looked like a regular old Joe during his school days.
OMG. He looked like the Marshall Mathers he was back then, before he became one of the world’s biggest rappers. Born in Detroit, the musician has also won an Academy Award for his song “Lose Yourself” from the film 8 Mile.
10. John Travolta
The Pulp Fiction star has one of the best childhood photos we’ve seen yet. He didn’t even look human in this picture!
