Lady Comedians Who Should Never Have To Answer The Question, “Are Women Funny?” Again

Comedy has long been a man’s world. It’s a tough industry for women to break into. Women have always been funny, but men haven’t always been receptive to funny women. These hilarious ladies have managed to captivate us, entertain us, and most importantly, make us laugh.

While all of these women speak to and about the female experience, their comedy can appeal to people of all genders. This group of talented writers, actresses, stand-ups, voice actresses, and three people named Kate prove that women are funnier than ever.

Sarah Silverman has become the mother of modern comedy. She broke into the scene in the early 90s, and her signature style has been making us laugh ever since. Silverman often uses her innocent stage persona to present crude, vulgar, or insensitive jokes. Her work often touches on political themes, like women’s rights and racial tension.

In addition to stand-up, Sarah has done some excellent acting work. She was the voice of Vanellope von Schweetz in Wreck-It Ralph, and she’s starred in more serious films like I Smile Back and Take This Waltz.
