Before he starred in MacGyver, Richard Dean Anderson was a soap opera star. This meant the actor was a frequent target of affection for swooning men and women everywhere. As a result, the producers were extra cautious about MacGyver’s character getting romantically involved with a woman in the series. In season three, a love interest was finally introduced and appeared in several episodes.
