MadTV: The Fascinating Facts Behind Fox’s Rowdiest Show

Best known for her long-running role as Lois Griffin on Family Guy, Alex Borstein was another household name for MadTV. She became a cast member during the third season and was best known for her character Ms. Swan, and child prodigy Karen Goddard.

While working for MadTV, Borstein met Seth MacFarlane, who was preparing to launch Family Guy. MacFarlane was offered to created animated shorts for Mad, but elected to do his own independent series. Borstein would be cast as Lois Griffin, who continues to provide the voice to this day.
