In November 2008, it was announced that MadTV would be canceled following the end of the 14th season. The final season only saw 17 episodes air from September 2008-May 2009. MadTV’s final episode would air on May 16, 2009, featuring guest appearances from former cast members.

Despite the end, producer David Salzman promised that the show would be revived and put on cable television. Though plans for a live-action cable revival of the show never came to action, some even considered making a cartoon series on the Cartoon Network.
