Sullivan and Wilson were two of the original cast members of MadTV. The cast members included Bryan Callen, David Herman, Orlando Jones, Phil LaMarr, Artie Lange, Mary Scheer, and Craig Anton, who was the only featured cast member during the first season.

There were some notable guest stars and musical guests during the premiere season. Kato Kaelin and Poison were on the first ever episode, but Whoopi Goldberg, Pauly Shore, and The Rolling Stones all made appearances throughout the season too.
