Movies That Were ‘Based On A True Story’, But Apparently, That Was A Lie

Robin Williams portrayal of Adrian Cronauer’s time as a plucky radio DJ during the Vietnam War got carried away from the truth. According to the Military Times, Cronauer admitted to the American Veterans conference that he wasn’t quite as kooky in reality.

Among the other major changes from reality to fiction, Cronauer told The Chicago Tribune that he wasn’t kicked out of Vietnam as a result of his on-air antics. He left when the tour of duty was over. Basically, Williams was funny whereas Cronauer wasn’t.
