With the help of George Clooney, Ben Affleck’s Fargo was one of the most talked about films in 2012. Racking up three Academy Awards, it’s factually inaccurate with the events in the movie. One of them is the way it minimizes Canada’s role in the whole hostage-extraction plan that brings the plot together.
Former US President Jimmy Carter, who was the President at the time of the situation, cited one discrepancy with the movie. In an interview with CNN, the 39th President of the United States stated that 90 percent of the contributions to the ideas and consummation of the plan was, in fact, the Canadians plan all along.
