Michael Bay took the real-life Sun Gym gang and turned up the volume a bit to make for a great action-comedy. While the gang of bodybuilders did kidnap a Miami businessman, all of their bumbling antics might have been a little embellished.

Many of the characters outside of Daniel Lugo, played by Mark Wahlberg, were really a couple of different characters jumbled together to add to their character. So it’s pretty unlikely that Dwayne Johnson character, Paul Doyle, was, in fact, a born-again Christian cocaine addict. Also, the armored truck chase scene was almost completely made up.
