Movies That Were ‘Based On A True Story’, But Apparently, That Was A Lie
Rudy

Of all the great sports films there are, Rudy is one of the most uplifting movies. It’s a movie that has a good plot, but it’s loose with the truth. Particularly, the scene when the players place their jerseys on Coach Devine’s desk to convince Rudy to play. And the crowd chanting his name?
That never actually happened. One player who was a real-life Rudy, Joe Montana, debunked some myths about the film. Montana, on the Dan Patrick Show, said the movie got a few things wrong. The crowd wasn’t chanting and no one threw in their jersey. Nonetheless, Rudy worked his butt off to get that feel-good moment.
The reason why Paul DePodesta’s name was left out of Moneyball had nothing to do with Jonah Hill.
