Movies That Were ‘Based On A True Story’, But Apparently, That Was A Lie

The Perfect Storm opted to incorporate the real-life names of those whose narrative it exaggerated to elevate the believability of the events. Nevertheless, it didn’t make the movie any more real. Captain Billy Tyne really did decide to take his fishing crew on his Andrea Gail-where the boat was swallowed up by the sea.

The most dramatic moments of the crew’s end were based on assumption and the wonders of CGI, and were based on very little knowledge of what actually happened. The movie is based on the novel written by Sebastian Junger, but sometimes, the books are better than the movie.
