Movies That Were ‘Based On A True Story’, But Apparently, That Was A Lie
JFK

The Oliver Stone directed classic from 1991 follows a lawyer planning to uncover the truth behind the JFK assassination. Aptly title JFK, Stone based the movies on two books. Jim Garrison, the film’s protagonist, wrote one of the books. After it’s release, the film became the center of controversy.
Since JFK’s release, Stone admits the film was intentionally inaccurate. He wanted to create a “counter-myth” against the Warren Commision. According to the film, the conviction of Lee Harvey Oswald covered up a conspiracy involving Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson.
