Michael Lewis novel-turned-movie showed how Michael Oher was adopted by a wealthy family and overcame big odds to make it to the NFL. Sandra Bullock won an Academy Award for playing Leigh Anne Tuohy, but it didn’t stop the real Oher from writing his own story.

In I Beat The Odds, Oher said his adopted mother didn’t actually have to teach him how to play football — though he couldn’t figure out why the director did the opposite. He also added that he felt the movie portrayed him as dumb instead of being a kid who had never had consistent academic instruction.

Despite some Oscar nominations, the murder of wrestler Dave Schultz wasn’t all accurate.
