Samuel L. Jackson Calls Out Martin Scorsese Over Marvel Comments

Looks like Nick Fury himself has responded to Martin Scorsese's comments about the Marvel movies. Scorsese called the movies "not cinema" last week and Jackson has some things to say about it.

Jackson, who appears in many of the Marvel movies as Nick Fury, told Variety that not all moviegoers appreciate Scorsese's films either.

"Films are films. You know, everybody doesn't like his stuff either. I mean, we happen to, but everybody doesn’t," said Jackson. "There are a lot of Italian-Americans that don't think he should be making films about them like that. Everybody’s got an opinion, so it’s okay. It’s not going to stop anyone from making movies."

Jackson isn't the only one who has responded to Scorsese's comments. Guardian of the Galaxy director James Gunn has also come to Marvel's defense.

"Martin Scorsese is one of my 5 favorite living filmmakers. I was outraged when people picketed The Last Temptation of Christ without having seen the film. I'm saddened that he’s now judging my films in the same way," Gunn said on Twitter.

Joss Whedon, who directed Avengers, has also spoken out.

"I revere Marty, & I do see his point, but ... Well there's a reason why 'I’m always angry’," Whedon said on Twitter.

I guess superhero films that are the highest-grossing films of all time aren't for everyone...
