Now, you may be thinking that The Ghost and Mr. Chicken was about the days of feather plucking by Don Knotts. But you would be wrong. In the 1966 film Don Knotts played the fictional character Luther Heggs — a writer for a small town newspaper called the Rachel Courier Express.

In the comedy starring, Joan Staley, Liam Redmond and Dick Sargent, Luther Heggs spends a night in a haunted house where a murder-suicide had taken place 20 years prior. The movie ends with Heggs discovering what really happened that night 20 years ago. The Ghost and Mr. Chicken received enjoyable reviews by critics.
