Military service, award-winning actor, college graduate? The ultimate trifecta! Don Knotts received his Bachelor’s degree in Theatre from West Virginia University in Morgantown in 1948 after a brief intermission in the army. In 2006, (the year that Knotts died at the age of 81) fundraising for a statue of Knotts began.

In 2016, the life-sized model of Knotts (who would now be 92 years old) was placed in front of the Metropolitan Theatre on High Street in his hometown, Morgantown, West Virginia. His children wanted the statue to portray Knotts as himself, not one of his many fictional characters.
