Just like her co-star, Betty White is also known for being an animal rights activist. She has had a role in the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association since 1974. Also, at the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards, Betty was an award presenter for the 2011 ceremony.

What other kind of recognition has Betty White received for her animal rights work?
In 2010, Betty White was named chairman of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA). An official zoo announcement read: “White’s work with the Zoo spans 46 years. She began serving as a GLAZA Trustee in the early 1970s, was a multi-year member of the Los Angeles Zoo Commission, and was named ’Ambassador to the Animals of the City of Los Angeles’ by Mayor Villaraigosa in 2006.” The city of Los Angeles had previously awarded White with a plaque bearing her name at the Zoo’s Gorilla Exhibit. Additionally, the US Forest Service has named White an honorary forest ranger. She really does love animals!
