Shocking Things You Never Knew About The Golden Girls
The Show Had Multiple Writers
The show ran for a long time and featured numerous episodes per season, so it’s no surprise that the show had more than one writer to keep ideas and storylines fresh. This also probably accounts for numerous discrepancies throughout the series. Often times names would be different, or locations of certain things would be changed.

It took a lot of writers for these characters to come to life
Just how many writers does it take to keep a successful show going for such a long run?
Since The Golden Girls ran from 1985 to 1992, with a whopping 180 different episodes, it makes sense that there were lots of writers contributing their talents to the show. Writer/producer Susan Harris created the beloved series and was its most prolific writer, contributing to 177 episodes. With so many writers working together, there were bound to be quite a few discrepancies. For example, in some episodes Blanche’s middle name is Marie and in others it’s Elizabeth. And there are plenty of continuity issues, with minor characters appearing or disappearing without explanation. It’s all part of creating a show with such a long run.
