Shocking Things You Never Knew About The Golden Girls
The Queen Mother Was A Huge Fan
Queen Elizabeth II’s mother, The Queen Mother, was such a huge fan of the show that she invited the cast to perform in England in 1988. They got together and put on a stage production of the show in front of the Queen Mother and her family. The production included all four of the show’s leading ladies and they even kept some risqué jokes in there.

It sounds like that was quite a nerve-wracking that performance for the Girls!
Estelle Getty, whose intense stage fright was discussed earlier, must have been especially nervous before performing in front of an esteemed audience at the Royal Variety Performance in London. Betty White did a Reddit “AMA” question-and-answer session about the event. In it, she explained, “It was very exciting. The Queen was lovely. We were told not to address her unless we were addressed. She was up in a box and she came down on stage after with Princess Anne.” The Queen Mother was 88 years old at the time of the performance, but she reportedly still laughed at some of the bawdiest humor.

Bravo for a job well done
