One Table And Three Chairs?

If you look at the kitchen table you’ll notice there are only three chairs (and a stool) event though the show features four lead characters. The show’s producers never wanted one of the actresses to have their back to the camera. They also felt that the table would become too crowded if they all sat around the table at the same time.

It turns out that this was a pretty common technique used on television shows, as we’ll learn.

Although most viewers would never notice such a minor detail, especially when the technique was used so artfully, many fans have now pointed the “three chair” issue out on social media and it’s hard to ignore once you know about it. Here’s how it worked: one of the characters would always be up, either out of the room completely or tending to some imaginary task in the kitchen… sometimes Sophia might be stirring some of her famous Italian sauce or Blanche might be preparing a pitcher of lemonade. And of course, there were always copious cheesecakes for the ladies to be fetching in the background.
