Betty White was a top competitor on the game show Super Password and she found a kindred spirit in Rue McClanahan. Between takes on the show the women would play word games together. Some games were on the open market and some of the games they made up on their own. Their games could go on throughout a full day of filming.

Great pals until the end

As we’ll read, the two women bonded over a shared love of games and riddles.

Filming a television show can be extremely tedious and actors are frequently forced to work long hours. Luckily for Rue McClanahan and Betty White, they discovered that each had a devilish competitive streak and enjoyed riddles and word games. The two could frequently be found engaged in one of their many games while they weren’t involved in filming a scene. What better way to pass idle time, really, than to give your brain a workout while also having fun with a good buddy? McClanahan and White remained close friends until McClanahan’s death in 2010, at the age of 76.
