If you play close attention to the show’s plot lines you’ll quickly notice that the women often encounter a male part and then react in some very funny ways. The member might be featured in the form of an adult-themed cake mold (which also appeared in another show two of the ladies starred in) or maybe it would make an appearance in a piece of artwork.

That mold behind Blanche would make an interesting cake…

Surprisingly, the same exact cake mold was used in another groundbreaking TV series!

In a household consisting of aging (but still very much alive!) single women, there are bound to be plenty of bawdy jokes and comments about men and their, ahem, bodies. After all, as the old Cyndi Lauper song lyrics go, “girls just wanna have fun.” One of the most obvious examples of phallic references is the copper pan hanging in the kitchen, which is supposed to be a lobster but closely resembles something else. Many fans might be surprised to learn that the same cake mold hung from the kitchen wall on the set of All in the Family (in which both McClanahan and Arthur appeared).
