There’s no doubt that Bob Ross has some serious talent, but he didn’t really know what to do with it at first. A woman named Annette Kowalski took one of Ross’s five-day condensed art classes in 1982. She was taken by how calming his voice was and how easy it was to learn from him and follow along.

Kowalski approached Ross and became his personal manager. She became the co-founder of Bob Ross Inc. and was the one who brought Ross to our television screens by brokering a deal with PBS for The Joy Of Painting.
