He Despised Painting People

His love of painting began while he was stationed at an Air Force base in Alaska, and according to Ross himself, the snow covered mountains and peaceful landscapes were a large part of that inspiration.
His original inspiration stayed with him in life and he tried to avoid painting people. Ross would even go so far as to avoid any signs of human life in his paintings, sometimes even omitting the chimneys from log cabins so that it does not look like any human could even be inside.
