Born as Samuel Horwitz, Shemp Howard was a member of “The Three Stooges” from 1930 to 1932 and from 1946 to 1955. His older brother is Moe Howard. Aside from being a part of the Stooges, the New York City native also had a career in film with roles in Pittsburgh, Strictly in the Groove, and Moonlight and Cactus.

When Shemp walked out during a rehearsal after a contract dispute he was quickly replaced by his younger brother, Jerry Howard, known as Curly. That had to sting.
