Summer Fun: Remembering Gilligan’s Island

No, this picture was probably not taken in Hawaii. Although the pilot episode was filmed on location in the state, the cast and crew promptly packed up and moved to Studio City in Los Angeles. The remainder of the entire Gilligan’s Island series was filmed at CBS Radford Studios. The lagoon was built specifically for the show but was drained and turned into a parking lot when the show ended. The same stage would later be used to film The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Roseanne.
