These TV Characters Are Way Too Poor To Afford Their Lavish Lifestyles

Television. Put simply, we adore it. There’s nothing like binge-watching a series to put you in a better mood. Of course, shows are designed to be entertaining and a stretch of the imagination – but when you really sit down to think about it, the lifestyles of some of our favorite characters just don’t add up. 133% of Danny Tanner’s income would have gone to renting that Full House. And Rachel Green’s meager coffee shop salary would not have been able to support her half of the rent for Monica’s apartment, estimated at $4,200 a month. Join us as we take a look at some TV characters who are way too poor to afford their lavish lifestyles.

Carrie Bradshaw – Sex and the City

We can appreciate that the suspension of disbelief is a pretty important part of a successful TV series – but Sex and the City took that to the extreme. While Miranda was a high-flying lawyer, Charlotte a curator, and Samantha a sought-after PR guru, Carrie made her living writing roughly four articles a week for a newspaper. Despite that, she had a closet full of designer clothes, a good-sized apartment in NYC, and could still afford to do all the same things as her much richer friends. The Financial Diet estimated that Bradshaw’s NYC lifestyle cost her $6,954 each month, which would be impossible on her estimated annual income of $38,000. Dang, Carrie must have a lot of credit card debt!
