TV Show: Petticoat Junction

After the success of their sitcom “The Beverly Hillbillies,” Paul & Ruth Henning decided to create a show called “Petticoat Junction.” The show, which follows the everyday ongoings of the Shady Rest Hotel, became such a success that it spawned the sitcom “Green Acres,” and the two shows would take part in numerous crossovers over the years. Unfortunately, after 222 episodes and countless memories through seven years, CBS pulled the plug on the show, but new and old fans of the series still watch the show today. Bea Benaderet, who played Kate Bradley on the show, had a historic career spanning radio, television, and film. Unfortunately, cancer kept her away from the show for the majority of the fifth season. On October 13, 1968, she passed away from lung cancer. Her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is located at 1611 Vine Street.
