Greenwich Village in the 1960s was the epicenter of cultural change, fashion, rebellion, and fun. It is also the home city of Bob Dylan, who is a musical icon for the that generation. His music speaks about peace and prosperity, during a time of war. This photo was taken by photojournalist Fred W. McDarrah who is best known for capturing 1960s counterculture. McDarrah took this photo of Bob Dylan on a bench in Sheridan Square, just after having recorded his 1965 album, Bringing It All Back Home. Rolling Stone dubbed the album “the cultural equivalent of a nuclear bomb.”
