Janet Jackson tops our list for being the oldest mother by giving birth to her child Eissa at the age of fifty. The singer and dancer announced in 2016 that she would be halting her world tour in order to try to start a family with her husband, Wissam Al Mana. The baby boy was born on January 3, 2017 and is said to be incredibly healthy.
This is the first child for both Jackson and the Qatari business man who met and married in 2012. The couple are both extremely quiet people and didn’t give much information about the pregnancy to the public. This silence was in part because of how old Jackson is and how the pregnancy could have had complications. We’re all happy for Janet!
Mariah Carey, 41
Mariah Carey has been all over the news lately and for many different reasons. She is on our list for her twins. The singer and diva gave birth to twins in 2011 at the age of 41 years old. Carey was married to Nick Cannon at the time, and gave birth to two healthy and strong babies.
Carey has recently been in the news for her New Year’s Eve Time Square mix up. The singer stopped mid performance on New Year’s Eve to say that the music, background singers, and her microphone had been compromised. Other performers during the show state that Carey’s performance was compromised on purpose. The entire performance was a complete disaster, and is now one of the biggest viral videos of 2017.
Nicole Kidman, 41
Nicole Kidman is a drop dead beauty, even in her aging years. The A-List actress gave birth to her first daughter in 2008 at the age of 41. The star was said to have struggled with infertility for years and stated that her lack of fertility was the reason she didn’t have any children with former husband Tom Cruise.
The star gave birth through gestational surrogate, which is the process of implanting a fertilized embryo into another woman. Kidman states that even though she was not the woman giving birth, that her children are HER children.

Salma Hayek’s story is a very serious one. Salma Hayek gave birth to her healthy daughter, Valentina in 2007 at the age of 41, but doctors also had some very serious news. Salma’s daughter was said to be born with down syndrome.
The baby was not born with the disease, but this is a fear mothers who are over than forty worry about. For mothers who are over 40, the chance of having a baby with down syndrome is roughly around 1 in 100, while mothers who are in their 30’s have a 1 in 1000 odds. Salma’s pregnancy was also riddled with other complications due to her age. At one point Salma’s husband, Francois-Henri Pinault stated, “It was a very difficult pregnancy. She almost lost the baby.”

Sophie B. Hawkins is one smart lady when it came to making babies. The singer and songwriter opted to freeze her eggs at the age of 31, in order to ensure that she would be able to have kids when the right guy finally came around. At the age of 50, Hawkins gave birth to her beautiful and healthy baby girl, Esther Ballantine Hawkins.
The singer stated, “Being 50 is actually an amazing age to have a second child because I am more wise, calm, humorous, appreciative, simple and clear.” Freezing your eggs is an amazing way to secure the thought and action of having kids when you’re older, if you aren’t ready for children now. The actress’s two other children, Maya Ray and Levon were born to her former ex husband Ethan Hawke during her 30’s. Currently, Hunter is is pursuing a career in voice over acting by giving her voice to the character of Elastigirl in the Pixar film, The Incredible 2. I grew up in a happy, loving family [and] I wanted it too. But until now, I just thought it wasn’t meant to be for me.
