Inside The Fundamentalist Church of the Latter Day Saints

The FLDS Is Not The Same Thing As The Modern Day Mormon Church

The Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints give Mormons a bad rap. They’re not the same thing. One boasts more progressive views, and one is radically fundamental. In 1980, the Mormon Church officially renounced polygamy in the “Mormon Manifesto.” The Manifesto stated that all Latter Day Saints had to uphold the laws of the United States, including anti-polygamy laws. This is when the FLDS church broke away and branched off into a few very isolated communities.

Most members of the FLDS church live in an isolated community in Hildale, Utah and Colorado City, Arizona. Some smaller communities can be found in Eldorado, Texas; Pringle, South Dakota and British Columbia.
