Natalee Holloway: A Case That Captivated The Nation

Elizabeth Pens My Story

In 2013, Elizabeth Smart released her memoir My Story. The 308-page book was an eye-opening account of her traumatic nine months in captivity – covering everything from stories of Mitchell’s daily assaults to how she managed to find hope.

Elizabeth wrote the book with help from Chris Stewart, a Utah congressman who’s written numerous books centered around religion and patriotism. Elizabeth hopes that her book will help other victims know it’s possible to find happiness and move forward in their lives after major trauma.

“I want people to know that I’m happy in my life right now,” Smart told the Associated Press. “I also, even more so, want to reach out to people who might not be in a good situation. Maybe they’re in a situation that was similar to the one that I was in.”
