On Thursday, April 25, 2019, the producers of what has been known for years as “Bond 25” got together for a special announcement in regards to the film. The 25th film in the James Bond series has yet to have an official title, but producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson sat down with director Cary Joji Fukunaga to reveal who would be joining the already star-studded cast.

Rami Malek, hot off the success of his starring role in the Oscar-winning Bohemian Rhapsody, was confirmed as the main villain in the upcoming Bond flick. “I promise you all I will be making sure Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride of it in this, his 25th outing,” Malek told fans. Other newcomers to the cast include Ana de Armas, Billy Magnussen, Dali Benssalah, Lashana Lynch, and David Dencik.

Daniel Craig will be reprising the role of James Bond for his fifth and final time. Léa Seydoux will return as Dr. Madeleine Swann, in addition to Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, and Naomie Harris who will all be reprising their roles in the franchise as well. While this press conference is usually held at Pinewood Studios in the U.K., this announcement was live streamed from Jamaica in the Goldeneye villa of Bond creator Ian Fleming.

Though the title remains a secret, fans did learn a bit about the plot. In this 25th installment, Bond leaves the active service and begins living a tranquil life in Jamaica. Unfortunately, this is cut short when his old pal Felix arrives from the CIA asking for help. Bond is then led on the trail of a mysterious villain in order to save a kidnapped scientist. This upcoming James Bond film is set to be released in the U.S. on April 8, 2020.
